President Johnson additionally signed the Higher Education Act of 1965, which expanded funding to colleges and universities. It was particularly designed to enhance access to larger education for middle- and low-income families and to support smaller schools with fewer sources. In-classroom learning was a privilege reserved almost exclusively for boys from wealthy families of European ancestry as more faculties were constructed in massive, 17th-century towns.
